THE STAFF AT THE SURGERY HAVE SEEN A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF VERBAL ABUSE AND SOMETIMES PHYSICAL AGGRESSION THEY HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ON A DAILY BASIS.

WHILST WE UNDERSTAND PATIENTS FRUSTRATIONS AND OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO ALWAYS HELP TO THE BEST OF OUR CAPABILITIES, ANGER AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS OUR STAFF WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED.

STAFF SHOULD NOT AT ANY TIME FEEL THREATENED OR ANXIOUS ABOUT COMING TO WORK BECAUSE OF PATIENTS ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIOUR.

STAFF UNFORTUNATLY ARE NOW EXPERIENCING DAILY HOSTILITY AND THE PARTNERS WILL NO LONGER TOLERATE THIS. IF SOMEONE IS RUDE OR ABUSIVE OR HOSTILE TO ANY MEMBER OF THE STAFF THEN THAT PATIENT WILL BE REPORTED TO THE PARTNERSHIP. THE PARTNERS WILL FOLLOW THE ZERO TOLERANCE PROCEDURES AND PATIENTS WILL BE WARNED OR REMOVED FROM THE PRACTICE LIST IF NECESSARY.

NO AMOUNT OF FRUSTRATION EXCUSES THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOUR.

PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE ALL HERE TRYING TO DO THE BEST WE CAN IN A SITUATION WHERE THE RESOURCES ARE LIMITED AND THE ROLE OF GENERAL PRACTICE HAS CHANGED. STAFF ARE GIVING UP WEEKENDS AND WORKING FLAT OUT TO CONTINUE LOOKING AFTER THE COMMUNITY AND THEY SHOULD BE APPLAUDED AND NOT ABUSED.
