Appointment Types

What kind of appointment do I need?

Different appointments are available for your different needs. Do you need to see a Doctor or a Nurse? Or would a Pharmacist be able to help? See below for the different types of appointments available.

Pre-bookable Appointments : Appointments with a Doctor can be booked up to a month in advance via our automated telephone system on 01509 508412 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and the internet, or up to 12 weeks in advance when speaking with a receptionist.

Emergency Same-Day Appointments:  These are for ailments that cannot wait for the next available pre-bookable appointment. Please be aware that these appointments are not for— sick / fit notes, repeat prescriptions, medication reviews, long term conditions or results of tests.

Nurses Appointments: Maybe a nurse can help. Nurses can see you for the following:

  • Minor Injuries

Home Visits: These are only for patients who are housebound or are unable to attend the surgery because of their medical condition. Please phone before 11.00am if you need a home visit.

Pharmacist:  A Pharmacist can advise you about the following:

  • Cough
  • Cold
  • Sore Throat
  • Fever
  • Earache
  • Thrush
  • Teething
  • Threadworms
  • Blocked nose
  • Hayfever
  • Athletes Foot
  • Diarrhoea
  • Cold Sores
  • Skin Rashes
  • Eye Infections
  • Mouth Ulcers
  • and more ...

Enhanced Access appointments

We are increasing the number of appointments available for you to see a GP in evenings or at weekends across West Leicestershire.

Depending on your individual circumstances and symptoms, we may offer you an ‘enhanced access’ appointment. Please note however, that these appointments will not be in your usual GP practice and may not be with one of your usual GPs or nurses.

Depending on the reason for your appointment, and if you are in agreement, it may be suitable for you to see an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, instead of a GP.

The Clinician you see will be able to access relevant sections of your medical notes and will communicate what has happened during your appointment back to your usual GP practice.

These appointments will either be a telephone call or a face to face at Rosebery Medical Centre Loughborough
